Previously, I'd noticed that decals would sometimes peel off even after applying a matte coat, so I decided to apply a glossy topcoat before applying the decals.

If the peeling was due to the rough surface, then decals applied to a smooth, glossy surface should be less likely to peel. I used three types: pressure-sensitive transfer decals, film decals, and water-slide decals. I used the ones included with the MG Version 1.5 kit, as well as leftovers from a previous Gundam build. I was worried about damaging the back of the decal after applying it. So, I worked on the side where I'd removed a completely unrelated decal.
