Towards the end of the One Year War, the Earth Federation Forces completed the "GM Striker," a close-combat specialized mobile suit based on the late-model GM under development, incorporating operational data from the Gundam and Ground Type Gundam on the ground.

This Striker type was equipped with wearable armor for additional armor and twin beam spears, a weapon specifically for close combat, making it suitable for endurance battles on the ground.

A small number of these units were produced and deployed to skilled pilots. Among them, the RGM-79FP [GH] Striker G (Gundam) head, which was re-tuned for space combat in conjunction with "Operation Star 1," was newly developed.
